All you need is a song.
Oklahoma Youth Sing! gives youth the opportunity to sing quality choral music in a community setting.
Building community one song at a time.
If your child has enjoyed choir through a camp, school or church, that experience may be further enriched by singing in OYSing! Students in our ensembles represent over 20 different Oklahoma schools including public, private, and home schools.
The ensembles are directed by Kendell Lowry, Lynn Herbel, and Jacob Gonzales.

“Being a part of OYSing! to me means passion. I look to my right, kids are smiling. I look to my left, smiles from ear to ear. Kids gather from all over Norman to sing in unison. It’s amazing how powerful the whole choir sounds together.
What’s even more wonderful is how hard kids try and the passion in their faces when they are singing with all they’ve got. I work hard and love it when I start off my week with a loving, beautiful choir family.”

What our youth are saying
“I personally contribute to the success of OYSing! by bringing a love of music. I almost always have a good attitude and a joyful outlook on singing. I come ready to work and ready to put in effort to make the songs we do the best they can be.”
— Juliet Thompson, 2024 Scholarship Award Winner
“Over the last few months in OYSing!, I have learned many useful skills that I can use to help me sing better for the rest of my life. For example, I’ve learned how to sing in a group with a bass voice. This concept was new because when I joined OYSing!, my voice had just started to drop, so I didn’t know how to sing in a choir setting with a voice that low. However, Mr. Gonzales, a.k.a. Mr. G, taught me how to blend my voice and sing at many different range throughout the last few months. This skill along with multiple others have shaped me into a mature singer capable of singing complex pieces that I couldn’t have dreamed of singing months ago.”
- Lucas French, 2024 Scholarship Award Winner
“To me, being a part of OYSing! means community. Almost every Monday night, I am surrounded by people who are my age and share my love of singing and music. I have been able to meet people I never would have been able to interact with. I also have been able to be taught by many people, which is always great for the development of my voice and choral abilities.”
— Chance Bell, 2024 Scholarship Award Winner
“With OYSing! I can express myself through music. OYSing! is also a place where I can have fun with my friends. I have made friendships that will last a lifetime through music. OYSing! gives me confidence, self-esteem, makes me smile and warms my heart.”
– Ryan Hensley, member of Cantare
“I contribute to the success of OYSing! by always doing my best. I use my best singing voice in every rehearsal. I have also attended every rehearsal and show up on time. I also attend extra activities like singing the National Anthem at the OU basketball games. It makes me happy to be part of OYSing!”
— Caylin Tomlins, 2024 Scholarship Award Winner
“In addition to singing and meeting others, I am also learning new skills. Every meeting is an opportunity to sing in a group where we are taught to read music for choir and harmonize in parts. I have enjoyed discovering different types and genres of music as well as memorizing lyrics in different languages.”
— Jace Farmer, 2024 Scholarship Award Winner
“A skill that I have been taught in OYSing! is solfège and solfège scales. Knowing solfège has helped me a lot at school in my choir class and even in honor band.”
— Mackenzie Schmidt, member of Cantare
